Fine Brass Bound Trunk.
Brass bound
trunks like this one were the premium trunks of the maker. They
were quite difficult to make requiring that a thin strip of brass
be wrapped around the steel band. It gave the trunk a rich, elegant
look that could be achieved no other way.
Our craftsmen
have taken great measures to bring this trunk to its current state
of excellence. It does not have a lock and the lockplate is a
replacement. We have attached a label from George Molloy who was
making trunks like this in Lowell, Massachusetts around the time
this one was made. Overall, the look of this trunk is quite pleasing
and it commands a very strong presence.
We have
applied our tough, long lasting finish to the surface of this
masterpiece and it is ready for many more years of use in your
home.
