McCutcheon Watercolor.
This was probably painted as an illustration for a story about the Spanish Conquerors in the 17th Century. Lots of action and great detail in the many faces. It looks like there was an uprising of slaves who seem to be dispatchng their captors.
Carleton Frank McCutcheon was an American Illustrator from New York. His work calls to mind that of N.C. Wyeth and other Illustrators of the era.
